General Questions
Are Fendertex fenders inflatable?
Yes, all Fendertex fenders are inflatable, featuring a high-strength TPU inner bladder surrounded by the patented, ultra-durable textile fabric. While the bladder provides airtight inflation, the textile shell delivers the exceptional strength, impact resistance, and abrasion durability that Fendertex is known for. When deflated, Fendertex fenders collapse to a compact profile for easy storage and transport, making them ideal for both cruising yachts and superyachts.
What is the fender made of?
Fendertex fenders feature a soft, patented knitted polyester exterior and a high-strength TPU inner bladder.
Unlike traditional PU or PVC fenders, or covers made from acrylic or neoprene, the textile surface is gentle on gelcoat and paint, minimizing the risk of scratches. Additionally, most conventional fender covers trap salt, dirt, and debris, which can damage your finish over time. Fendertex fenders and covers are engineered to resist retaining these particles, keeping your boat cleaner and better protected while in use.
Do Fendertex fenders include covers?
Covers are sold separately but are highly recommended. They provide added abrasion resistance and can be customized by color, weaved patterns and embroidery.
What shapes and sizes are available?
Fendertex offers a complate range of fender shapes and sizes to suit yachts of all types, from 10 meters to over 100 meters. Our range includes:
- classic design for general docking protection, available in multiple diameters and lengths.
- ideal for protecting corners, bows, and other high-impact areas.
- two fenders joined together for extra coverage and shock absorption.
Custom sizes and configurations are also available on request, making Fendertex suitable for superyachts, luxury cruisers, and everything in between.
Installation & Use
How do you inflate a Fendertex fender, and at what pressure?
Fendertex fenders use the standard inflation valve found on most inflatable products, compatible with typical hand pumps or electric inflators. Inflate the fender to the recommended pressure—usually 350–400 mbar (millibars)—and always check your specific model’s manual for exact figures.
Proper inflation is essential to keep the fender’s neck very stiff. Overinflation is preferred to underinflation, ensuring the fender maintains its shape and provides optimal protection.
Can the fenders be hung vertically and horizontally?
Yes. To hang a Fendertex fender horizontally, it is best to use Long Side covers designed for horizontal mounting. These covers provide full surface protection along the fender’s length. This setup is ideal for dockside fender lines, alongside pilings, or when protecting the yacht’s side during maneuvering.
Care & Maintenance
Are Fendertex fenders easy to clean?
Yes. Fendertex fenders are designed for effortless maintenance. The fender itself can be rinsed with fresh water or gently washed with mild soap. Covers are machine washable on a gentle cycle and should be air-dried to maintain their durability and appearance. The knitted polyester surface resists salt, dirt, and grime, making Fendertex fenders easier to keep clean compared to traditional fenders and covers.
Will the textile color fade?
Fendertex textiles are solution-dyed for excellent UV resistance. Fendertex textiles maintain color substantially longer than traditional surface-dyed materials.
Can you make covers for other fenders?
At this time, Fendertex covers are designed to fit Fendertex fenders specifically. However, custom solutions may be available on request.
Durability & Warranty
How strong are Fendertex fenders?
Fendertex fenders are engineered for exceptional strength and durability. The patented knitted polyester exterior provides outstanding resistance to abrasion, tearing, and UV degradation, while the high-strength TPU bladder maintains consistent internal pressure. Our largest model is tested to withstand up to 20,000 kg of compression force without structural failure. This combination of lightweight construction and extreme load capacity is why Fendertex is trusted by superyachts, naval vessels, and commercial ships operating in some of the world’s most demanding marine environments.
What is the warranty?
Fendertex fenders include a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship, in line with EU consumer protection standards. This includes coverage against premature UV fading of the knitted polyester exterior. Warranty claims are assessed individually, and where applicable, Fendertex will work with you to repair or replace the affected product.
What is the lifespan of a textile fender?
With proper care and inflation, Fendertex fenders will last many years, even in demanding marine environments. The inner bladder is replaceable, extending product life.
